Off the Grid Ideas Competition
Farmer Brown's Jacket
(Off the Grid Ideas Competition)This tiny piece of land is part of a system connected to a gigantic whole. An urban scar has been created by discarded land, discarded garbage and discarded toxins. How do we help nature? We are conscious of the consequences of our actions. Why not heal the entire scared piece? Nature knows no borders. The water doesn’t stop at boundaries. We have heard a lot of talk about “off the gird.” There are a series of statements that we all arrive at when we do this research. It is time to act. I have tried to address these issues in this Urban Design “Poem.” I present to you:
Farmer Brown’s Jacket
What does off the grid mean? It means highest and best use of land for nature and ourselves ~ It means discontinued use of fossil fuels ~ It means locally grown foods and eating seasonal fruits and vegetables, in other words, no 3,000 mile salads ~ It means renewable energy and renewable fuels ~ It means the maximum recycling of waste and its conversion into energy whenever possible ~ It means local jobs ~ It means shared transit systems ~ It means architecture that generates its own energy~ It means clean and shared transport systems ~ It means vehicles running on solar energy and bio-fuel ~ It means freight and people transported by train ~ It means eco-sustainable businesses and technologies ~ It means the manufacutring of photovoltaics and other green building materials locally ~ It means recycling all waste with a vengence ~ It means no energy waste ~ It means minimum carbon footprint ~ It means the evolution of us all.
Why do this for 100 people when you can do it for 10,000?
